Google and Lightspeed launch a joint AI Sprint accelerator, providing technical mentorship, cloud credits, and scale-up support for Indian AI ventures.
Tech giant Google and leading venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners have joined forces to launch India AI Sprint, a national accelerator program designed to empower early-stage consumer-tech and fintech startups to transform experimental generative AI prototypes into production-ready, scalable enterprises. The initiative combines Google’s advanced AI infrastructure—including Vertex AI, Gemini models, and TPU v5e compute hardware—with Lightspeed’s deep venture capital expertise and global market network.
The cohort will provide selected Indian startups with up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, direct access to Google DeepMind research engineers, and fast-tracked seed investment opportunities from Lightspeed.
Intent-First Accelerator Architecture and Scale-Up Focus
While India boasts one of the world's largest developer ecosystems, many early-stage AI startups struggle to transition from initial LLM wrapper prototypes to enterprise-grade products capable of handling millions of real-time queries with low latency and tight security bounds.
The Google & Lightspeed AI Sprint specifically targets startups building localized consumer apps, voice-first Indic interfaces, automated fraud detection engines, and personalized micro-lending platforms tailored for India's diverse demographic.
India is rapidly emerging as an experimental laboratory for global AI deployment. By combining Lightspeed’s venture backing with Google’s frontier AI stack, we are helping Indian founders convert raw algorithmic breakthroughs into sustainable commercial businesses.> — Dev Khare, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners
